FCER’s Anthony Rosner, Ph.D., Honored by National University of Health Sciences

Norwalk, Iowa—The Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) is proud to announce the recognition received by one of its own: Anthony L. Rosner, Ph.D., FCER Director of Research and Education, was presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) degree from the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in Lombard, Illinois. Presentation of the award was made to Dr. Rosner following his commencement address to those graduating on December 21, 2002.

"It was my pleasure to recognize Dr. Rosner and his many accomplishments by conferring upon him the honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D.), which is usually conferred upon those who have made significant contributions to society," said James Winterstein, D.C., President of NUHS. "Dr. Rosner’s contributions to the chiropractic profession and the patients whom we serve through chiropractic medicine are nothing if not outstanding. He is a true professional and a treasure to our profession."

Dr. Rosner’s contributions to the profession are summarized in the award itself:

  • Dr. Anthony L. Rosner has distinguished himself as Director of Research and Education for the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research for the past decade, and;

  • Dr. Anthony L. Rosner has served in various capacities with Children’s Hospital in Boston, Brandeis University in Massachusetts, New England Pathology Services in Massachusetts, Beth Israel Hospital in Massachusetts and Tufts Medical School also in Massachusetts, and;

  • Dr. Anthony L. Rosner has received his Doctoral degree from Harvard University, and;

  • Dr. Anthony L. Rosner has served on numerous editorial and advisory boards within the health care professions, and;

  • Dr. Anthony L. Rosner has been cited for numerous honors and distinctions by various health related organizations, and;

  • Dr. Anthony L. Rosner has authored numerous scientific articles and is widely recognized for his expertise in research methodology, and;

  • It is the privilege of and prerogative of the National University of Health Sciences to formally recognize individuals which are held in high regard by the members of the institution by the conferring of honorary degrees,

  • Now Therefore be it Resolved that: By the authority granted to the National University of Health Sciences by the State of Illinois and delegated to the office of the President by the Board of Trustees, I, as President, do hereby confer upon Dr. Anthony L. Rosner the honorary degree Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) with all of the rights, privileges and responsibilities pertaining thereto.

The recognition was completely unexpected by Dr. Rosner, who is delighted by the award. "I am both honored and humbled by this most gracious recognition from an institution that has, since the beginning of my time within the chiropractic profession, been a source of inspiration for research and teaching," declared Dr. Rosner. "From the moment that I became aware of its clinical laboratory program of instruction (which is superior to those that I have seen at medical schools), even before joining FCER, I have always looked forward to visits to National with great relish—in no small part due to the exceptional group of people with whom I have had the pleasure of collaborating. It is always heartening to know that what you enjoy doing most has been so appreciated. This degree therefore has particular meaning and is one that I will always treasure."

Other recipients of this award from NUHS have included Dr. David Eisenberg, Dr. Patch Adams, Dr. Bernie Siegel, former Governor of Illinois Jim Thompson, Representative Henry Hyde, Dr. Louis Sportelli, Mr. Russell Gibbons, and others.

The Board of Trustees and staff of FCER would like to congratulate Dr. Rosner on this outstanding recognition from the chiropractic community. Commented FCER President, Vincent P. Lucido, D.C., "Why do you need an honorary degree when you already have an earned doctorate? The answer is simple: you do not need one but it is certainly nice when someone exerts a Trojan effort on behalf of those he serves to be recognized for his effort, accomplishment, and commitment by one of the premier chiropractic institutions in the country. Tony Rosner deserves that recognition. We are proud to have such a talent in FCER’s service."
